A Look in the Dusty Nook

"Lady Jackie" Daylily
Reach back into the far recesses of your mind, those dusty nooks and crannies of your consciousness where dust lingers in the air and spiders grow huge and scary.

Are you there?

Good.

Now step over your high school calculus, being careful not to trip on that pesky list of U.S. Presidents, and you should find on the far upper shelf the blogged details of “Chloe Stowe’s 31 Designer Daylilies.”

Having trouble finding that particular scrap of useless information?

Ok, I’ll give you a one sentence primer… After having bought my mother 31 Designer Daylilies for Mother’s Day, I actually had to help her plant those 31 Designer Daylilies in a bed of near-cement and weed.

Got it now?

Good.

The point of all this rooting around in the cerebral attic is this…

The designer daylilies have begun to bloom!!!

We weren’t expecting flowers for at least another year. It’s a spectacular surprise I thought I’d share with you this erstwhile Saturday morning.

“Why?” someone in the back row with dust bunnies still in their hair asks.

Because sometimes writers get so caught up in, well, writing that other truly magnificent creations are overlooked entirely.

Not today.

Not this early June morning.

Admittedly, this picture will most likely end up tucked in one of those dusty nooks of your memory but perhaps for this singular moment in time it will bring you a smile.

Until tomorrow…

Chloe
