There should be some way to measure effort.
At least a word to encompass the amount of effort put into something.
After all, if there is no word there can be no discussion about it.
Effortage, perhaps?
Can’t you hear a publisher say as he or she looks upon a submitted
manuscript, “Hmm, what great effortage here in this scene. Clearly the author
struggled over this for days. Sure, the results are iffy but the effortage is
brilliant. Send this author a Rework & Resubmit.”
I think this would only be fair.
