Lisp

Evading a spiteful spit of tornadoes in the wee hours of the morning is conducive to little except dodgy sanity…

*pauses, reviews the mouthful of wordy words just spat and reconsiders*

Dodgy sanity and thesaurus lisp, I should say.

Neither one of us need suffer through this, I believe.

Good day.

Until tomorrow…

Stogies & Berluti

Things are clearly getting out of hand.

Or should I say out of foot?

Let me explain.

I spent approximately 20 minutes last night researching the best and/or most expensive men’s shoes in the world.

Why?

Had I stumbled into a windfall of cash and lost my mind?... No, at least not the windfall part. The mind issue we’ll leave for another discussion.

Had inspiration hit my writerly nodes? Had a great character just pleading to be born onto paper suddenly appeared amongst the gales of a freakish storm?... Um, not quite.

The answer?... Stupid, silly, OCD, please-please-let-me-write-something old me worked on her weekly travel blog. As per custom, it seems, another random character was introduced to introduce the week’s writing nook.

That’s all fine and dandy, a little bit weird I’ll give you, but within acceptable bounds. However, when this forever-nameless gent begs for a description down to his freaking feet, alarm bells ring…

Or at least they should. Me? I’m hearing nothing but his burly brogue chuckling around the occasional hitch in his lungs brandishing the surly fellow a lifelong smoker. (Of cigars, I believe. Give me another half-hour and I’ll give you the brand.)

See my problem?

Good. You keep an eye on it while I dive into the history of coronas.

Until tomorrow…

Chloe

Post Note: Please spare a few thoughts and prayers to the Southeast today as strong tornadoes are possible this afternoon and overnight. Selfishly, I’d like to spend the day wrapping presents instead of cowering in my father’s walk-in closet.

A Case of Writer's Basket

Basket Case.
Friday has finally leapt out of the tangle of ho-hum days and yelled “Surprise! I’m here!”

As we all embrace the consensus favorite of the workdays, may I just ask of Mr. Friday: “What the hell took you so long?”

This has been a long week.  Shall I enumerate?

1.) Tornadoes. Need I say more? Yep, I do. Monstrous, long-track twisters roaring by to the squawk of the NOAA weather radio foretelling “catastrophic damage.” They actually said that. I pride myself in the fact that I did not cry. *lol*

2.) Letter to a literary agent in New York in which I rolled over and exposed my lily white, indefensible, vulnerable belly. (We’re talking figurative belly here, folks. No porn accompanied this missive.)

3.) Two deaths in my circle of family and friends. I should have really mentioned these first, but I wasn’t sure about including them at all. Shockingly, and to almost all evidence to the contrary, I am a remarkably private person. Laying my literary belly and my screwed up head to bare is apparently different, however, as I have no qualms about showing all my mangled, barely healing scars to you all.

Well, I’ve just expended all of my first dose of Prozac for the day. See, just recounting my week has left me mentally limp and squishy. I am a certifiable basket case.

Alright, I’ve got another 750 words on the schedule for today, I better get moving. As slow as my brain’s chugging along this morning, I’ll be lucky to break 200 by noon.

Don’t you just love sharing my life?

It is a ray of utter sunshine.

*chuckles*

Until tonight…
