Determination

Well, at least rejections are coming swifter these days.

Another one yesterday, but I countered boldly with two more submissions. I’ll get it done yet.

Five more days before my workdays vanish. Familial blessings and obligations will then take center stage for 2 to 3 weeks. Let’s see how many publishing heads this ol’ scribbler can turn before then.

Until tomorrow…

Knick-knacks

Just a couple of knick-knacks for you this morning. Feel free to shove them to the back of your shelves and let them gather dust.

1.) Overwhelmed a bit by The Hushing Days at the moment. There are so many historical doo-dads to tuck into the storyline that I’m constantly feeling that I’m missing something.

2.) Despite knick-knack #1, I have been churning out a steady word count every day. The 1k battle plan I lauded last week has been downgraded to 800 words per day. My brain and all its colorful oddities feel a bit more comfy with that number.

3.) Thinking of starting a gardening blog at my Cora Douglas Sands website. It would get some traffic going to The Hushing Days’ penname site. I’ll keep you updated.

4.) Knick-knack #3 would NOT be a daily blog. I’m not that insane.

5.) Tired of trying so gosh-darn hard at this writing career thing. It would be sooooo much easier just to settle into leach-hood and accept my role as familial burden with a mellow smile.

6.) I’m too stubborn, hard-headed and ornery to ever surrender to knick-knack #5. Whether this is a good or bad thing, I have no idea.

Until tomorrow…

Six Hours to Everest

Nine days to go until Quiver’s deadline and progress is actually ahead of schedule.

*gulps*

Yeah, kind of freaky, that.

Not quite sure how to handle it, honestly.

I do know that I’m tired. Not brain-tired, per se. It’s more a physical body flagging exhaustion kind of a thing.

Apparently, six hours of sleep a night is just not hacking it for a girl putting in double and triple shifts of writing every day for the last, well, forever (i.e. ten days to those not exaggerating improperly.)

It’s really weird because I know I’m not overworking. I’m just working more efficiently so I get a lot more done in my designated work hours.

See?

Yeah, I don’t either.

Probably because that makes no sense whatsoever.

And that’s probably because I need more sleep.

*yawns, nearly swallows my dog*

Well, enough complaining.

I’ve got work to do.

SIDE NOTE: I really am Ok. Just bushed. But it’s a good kind of tired, the kind you get after pushing yourself to run a triathlon, or scale Everest, or triple-shift yourself on writing quality smut. In other words, paging my psychiatrist will not be necessary at this point.  So, put those phones down, people. *smirks*

Until tomorrow…

The Little Engine that Will

Pat me on the head and give me a treat! I’ve been good.

*decides against yipping like a small dog and allows the metaphor to die there*

My Book Two word quota of the day has been met. 750 words in the bank to an account that will one day pay off with a novel, first class.

*decides against mimicking the sound of a cash register for fear of startling the dog into chuckles*

As per usual with my odd creating style, a small, afterthought of a secondary character has now gained title card billing. The guy has no name, no physical description, no background but, man, does he now have a juicy part in a Chloe Stowe novel! *lol*

No word from either literary agent or publishing house today.

*the world mocks surprise*

I’m with you, earth. I’m shocked.

*smirks*

But I’ll keep chugging ahead, keep shoveling coal into my pretty little engine, keep choo-choo-ing down the literary line...

*decides against actual choo-choo-ing and allows this post to die there*

Until tomorrow…
