Corruption

An unchecked mental illness corrupts its bearer. Beneath the corrosion, the true person remains. Yet, as time passes with no attention paid to the sickness, the soul within ruins and the damage becomes, in some tragic degree, irredeemable.

One day I may be able to explore this sad truth in my stories, but the courage to do so eludes me.

Whether this is blessing or curse, I do not know.

Until tomorrow…

A Different View

Seldom can a person claim their profession is also their guilty pleasure. But writing is mine, and now that Christmas is over I can return to it with a silly grin upon my face and an eager muse at the ready!

Whenever the heft of my truly odd world gets a little too weighty on my shoulders, I remember this even odder blessing and embrace it wholeheartedly.

Until tomorrow…

Three Years

Three years ago today, my uterus was carved out of my body and disposed of, I hope, in some ghastly manner befitting the staunch troublemaker it was.

Life has been inestimably better since saying goodbye to ol’ Ute. So, today I raise a glass to the empty spot in my abdominal cavity and thank the good Lord for the void.

Until Monday…

With Home in Sight

This has not been my day.

First, my work email was hacked AGAIN!

So I’m having to shut that email account down completely and move all my work contact stuff to a new email account. Me figuring out how to save address books and around 500 past emails was laughable.

In fact, I’d still be choking on some of those chuckles if I wasn’t in a freaking car accident this afternoon!

Thankfully, everyone is fine (including my faithful four-legged friend who was in the passenger seat). My new car is really messed up though. Apparently little Honda Civics are not made to be hit by huge Ford Explorers.

It was not my fault, thank goodness. Another huge chunk of gratitude sent out for that.

This is the first accident I’ve ever had… at least it happened within 100 yards of my house so I could walk my puppy back home while waiting for the cops.

Needless to say, I’m in no condition to blog other than this rambling missive.

Tomorrow will be a better day and I will see you all then!

Until tomorrow…

Beneath the Rotting Eggs... Gold!

Where the heck did this come from?
Sometimes the computer age sucks.

Sucks big.

Sucks stinking, rotten ostrich eggs by the bushel-full. .. No, I don’t even know if that allusion/metaphor/whatever makes a hill of beans worth of sense, but I couldn’t come up with anything better since my imagination has been sucked dry and bloody raw by the aforementioned computer freaking age!

I’m sparing you the bold, all caps that the above rant highly deserves. I’m sure each of you have had such days, so I’ll allow you to accessorize my frustration accordingly.

My work email was hacked this morning.

Yep.

Sucks dinosaur eggs through a bendy straw.

Thankfully, I caught it almost as soon as it happened. Only one email was sent out in the hack-job before I cut off all access to the account and changed passwords, security questions, etc.

Of course that one “FW: link” email went to everybody in my work address book. So I shot out an emergency “This email has been hacked” email (ironic, much?) warning everybody not to open anything from me.

Lovely.

Malware, spyware scans followed.

Then I went and changed all of my passwords for all of my email accounts just as a precaution.

Finally, I was able to send out the “Everything’s A-OK with this email account now. Thanks for playing” email. By this point in the game I was sucking air. I was exhausted. (Psychiatric meds can wipe you out for the stupidest of reasons.)

As far as I can tell, no lasting damage was done.

I handled the crisis effectively, soundly and professionally.

Goody.

It still sucked Godzilla eggs.

But…

(And this is a very, very important “but”)…

In the midst of all of this sucking of infernal, rotting eggs, a golden egg not only came into light but it was delivered to me upon a silver platter.

Drumroll please…

I have a lead on an agent.

A really, really good agent.

A really, really good lead… as in an invitation from this really, really good agent’s boss to submit my work to her.

EEEEK!!!

(That was a good EEEEK!!!, by the way)

I’m still trying to wrap my head around this opportunity that has just landed on my lap out of nowhere. I’ll share the details with you all tomorrow when my brain is past the point of…

EEEEK!!!

Until tomorrow…

Chloe

P.S. The computer age rocks!
