Writers spend inordinate amounts of time tinkering. Be it with the
plot, the ins and outs of the characters or a stubborn paragraph, ingenuity often
plays as big a part of the process as grammar or style.
This is good. This is natural. This is, more cases than not, utterly infuriating.
Bottom line: Don’t be afraid to fiddle with things. Genius often lies in
the details.
